NIKE in the global Market

NIKE in the global Market

Nowadays NIKE and Adidas are biggest competitors of each other and customers have their own preferences. To see  the global revenues there is an image of the revenues from the biggest competitors in 2016.

As you can see Nike has from the beginning a higher revenue stream than the other competitors, but nowadays NIKE and Adidas are more competitive in the business. The '"fight" for sponshorships is bigger than ever and both brands want to be the best.

It is also fun to see the different between NIKE and Adidas if you see the sponsorships with football players. Below this line there is a video with different players and the two brands. Are there any suprises?

I would also to know you why people choose for NIKE and not for Adidas. Is this because of the sport athletes marketing, the quality of products or your own choice.

  1. Well, to be honest while I was choosing shoes who had worn the same brand is not what I will consider. I usually prefer Adidas just because I prefer their design and I am used to wearing Adidas shoes, maybe I am now being a bit loyalty to Adidas! Just found out!

    1. I believe everyone has his preference and most of the time you will buy the brand over and over again. Personally, I don't have a choose between the brand. I look to the cost and quality. Thankyou!

  2. It seem to me that Nike is more "basketball" and "American", and adidas is more "soccer" and "European". I often wear Nike but not Adidas. There are some reasons. First, I'm a fan of basketball. Although I watch soccer as well but not that much comparing to basketball. In addition, I like the design of Nike more than Adidas's. Nike is not only a sports brand but also a fashion brand. Their Nike Cortez, Sock Dart, Nike Air Huarache, Jordan series are great success in fashion industry.

    1. I totally agree with you that NIKE is more american and adidas more european. It is nice to see that the influence of sport can direct you to a brand.

    - I always recognize the popularity of NIKE and ADIDAS which were both ranked first and second for a long time. As you can find some article on internet, Those two brands have increasing trend on sales out of Europe, especially in America and Asia. And I had some survey for find out the reasons why people love those brands especially in my country. And there were some reasons related to comfortable quality, the price and the design the most.
Of course that marketing with athletes could be the distinctive factors for consumers to buy stuffs.

    1. Dear yoon,

I agree with you that people choose one brand because of the comfortable quality and that is also very important for me. I like messi better than Ronaldo, but I have more NIKE clothes/shoes than Adidas. Thankyou for you comment.

  4. The fight between those two is now legendary and people choose either because of very different reasons. Some will say that Nike has better designs (Tinker Hatfield), some will say adidas has more classic designs (Adidas Superstar), some will say Nike is American so they will be patriotic, some will choose Adidas because they are better for "wide-footers". The competition lasts for many years and Nike is usually on top, but recently, the German brand is growing faster, inter alia when Kanye Wast switched to their side, after NIKE didn't give him enough creative power. Now the rapper has his own clothing line in Adidas and his shoes are among the most wanted in the world, and it seems to pay off.

    1. Thanyou for your comment! I believe that this battle between the two brand will exist forever. NIKE and adidas need to work hard to keep their famous people in or otherwise they will move to the other brand, like what happend with Kanye West.

I believe if the sponshorship are high and the persons have influence the sponsorship will be for a longer period

  5. Jon:

The battle between Nike and Adidas has always been an interesting one to me. For a very long time in the United States Nike dominated this dichotomy, but in recent years Adidas is beginning to catch up. This is actually because of celebrities rather than athletes. With regards to sports a majority of Americans still prefer Nike, but I believe Adidas is not far behind.

How did Nike became so succesful- Sponsorships

Sponsorships To build an imperium and be the market leader like NIKE, the organization must have a good marketing department and strategy.   "No company in the world spends as much money on sports sponsorships as Nike”  (Isidore, 2015) The endorsement of NIKE is one of the key elements to build a brand like this. The organization has a lot of big sport athletes to promote the brand like: 1.        Cristiano Ronaldo ( See a commerial at the end) 2.        Lebron James 3.        Tiger Woods 4.        Serena Williams 5.        Michael Jordan Nike is using professional athletes and celebrities   to promote their   products. The influence from the athletes and celebrities could influence new customers. Especially really big fans of the athletes would like to have a product from their idol. Some athletes have even their own line like Lebron James. The revenues from the products is higher than the cost of the sponsorship and therefore the organization spends

The brand is the market leader in their market, but how did the company become so successful and what do people think from the brand. In this blog, I will explain the beginning of Nike. The start of NIKE Phil Knight is the man who came up with the idea for the company. He was a very sportive man, but he didn’t like the American sport shoes.
